5 Healthy Breakfast Bowls You Must Try

I wasn’t a breakfast bowl person, until I recently changed my lifestyle. In order to lead a healthy life, I had to change the way I ate my food.

With all the people I spoke to in the industry and whatever matter I read up, I learnt that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And ofcourse, I don’t have to tell you this and you possibly already know this from your mum, who would make sure that you had a full stomach before you left home in the morning. Sigh. Mums are always right aren’t they.

Anyhow, coming back to breakfast, I have personally tried out these breakfast bowls and they are simply delicious. The key is to try making it yourself so that you can keep track of the portions.

For this summer, trade in your toasts and eggs for one of these bowls. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

1.Coconut Banana Oats with Crunchy Black Quinoa Cereal and Mango

Since it’s the mango season, you must indulge. This one is really crunchy and tasty. Remember to take it a little easy on those bananas as it tends to make you too full than you should. However, if you love it, go wild with it. Make the oats with some almond milk and add coconut and banana to it once it’s cooling down and mix it well. Then top it off with some black Β quinoa cereal which is available in any supermarket now. Add sliced Β mangoes and sprinkle some dry fruits on it. It’s yum.

2. Chia & Flax Seed

This option is for those who are super rushed in the am. Soak the chia and flat seeds together in some coconut milk and keep it to cool in your refrigerator. Once it’s all swelled up by the morning, you can just pour it in the bowl and have it as is or if you are a fan of warm food, you can even heat for a couple of minutes in a pan. The picture below has been garnished with coconut shavings, kiwi, berries and almonds. I’m not a ‘berries’ person, so I garnish it with some mango, pumpkin seeds, almonds and cashew nuts. Works just right for me.

3. Chocolate Peanut Butter & Banana

I like to indulge in this over the weekends. It’s my way of treating myself. Blend Almond milk, banana, cocoa powder (just a little), vanilla extract and a spoon of maple syrup with some crushed ice. Once blended pour in a bowl and top it with banana, cocoa puffs (which is what I use), granola and peanuts.

4. Avocado & Kale

Avocado has to be one of my favourite superfoods. Ever since I discovered it, I find every opportunity to include it in my meals. This one is really good for your skin and hair. Blend kale leaves, a little bit of banana, avocado, almond milk and I, personally, love it with some vanilla extract. Don’t forget to ice it. Top it with seeds that you like such as pumpkin, flax, chia and any other dry fruits that you fancy. Fruit will also do.

5. Vanilla Oats

Cook some oats in almond milk with some vanilla extract and once cooled down, mix some chia seeds and leave it overnight Β in your refrigerator. It’s ready to eat in the morning with toppings of your choice. This one, feels like ice cream, early in the am. Best feeling ever.
